Get on the Road: 4 Tips for the Perfect Campervan Trip

According to one study, about 1 in 3 Americans say that they are planning to take a road trip at some point in the summer.

If you’re going to be one of those Americans, you might want to consider taking a road trip in a campervan.

But a campervan road trip can be a little bit different than a regular road trip. Here are some tips on how to make sure you plan accordingly!

1. Figure Out Where to Camp

First, you need to figure out where you’ll park your van overnight. One of the best parts of the campervan is that you can park and hang out wherever you want!

This will make sure that you have a somewhat spontaneous trip, although you may want to do a little bit of planning if you want to.

You should look around for popular campsites and find out everything, Like do you need insurance, do you need to pay for a parking space? Do they have a bathroom and other facilities?

2. Pack Only What You Need

Even though you’ll have a little bit more room than a standard car, you should still only pack the things you’ll need.

You should bring along food that you can make on a fire or gas stove. If your camper has a fridge, you can also bring some colder items as well. However, don’t start bringing a lot of kitchen appliances because these can weigh you down.

You should also bring other essentials that you’ll need during your trip. For example, bring a universal adapter, a phone charger, matches, towels, and some bug repellant.

3. Carefully Choose a Travel Buddy

Make sure you two have a conversation ahead of time about what’s expected of the two of you. For example, they need to be aware of if you’ll be sharing a bed, where they’ll go to the bathroom, and how you’ll be making food.

If they’re not up for all of that, they’re probably not the best partner to go on a trip with.

4. Clean Up After Yourself

When you’re ready to leave a campsite or wherever you spent the night, make sure that you leave it better than how you found out.

Pick up all of your trash and don’t feed any of the wildlife there. In some states, it’s actually illegal.

Make sure you also know the rules about starting a fire where you are. if you do start a fire, make sure you put it out properly.
