There are some ways you can protecting your teeth. Steve Maraboli, an American writer once said “smile at strangers and you just might change a life.” No doubt, smiling is a beautiful and yet powerful tool for spreading positivity and making significant changes in someone’s life. However, if you smile with a broken tooth or bad oral hygiene you may ruin the day of the other person.

Oral hygiene matters and it increases your and your teeth’ life. There are many health-related benefits that are connected with your oral hygiene. Health diseases like diabetes, cardiac diseases, and obesity all are connected with your oral health. To protect myself from any of these problems I consulted with some top dentists in Karachi and they shared with me the 5 daily practices that will not only protect your teeth but also save you from diseases mentioned before.

5 Practices for Teeth Protection

What are those 5 practices? Let’s get into the details of these 5 practices that you can do on a daily basis for protecting your teeth.

  1.       Brush Twice a Day

Brushing your teeth twice a day removes all the bacteria and trapped particles from your teeth. Therefore, brush twice a day and make sure to use fluoride toothpaste. Besides this, you can also use baking soda if your teeth are turning yellow. Similarly, active charcoal can also be used occasionally for changing the color of your teeth into white.

  1.       Do Floss

The second practice that you should do on a regular basis is flossing. Do floss after every meal. Sounds too much? Don’t worry It does not take some time. As now you can use dental floss for this purpose and don’t have to spend an hour doing floss with the thread. Flossing is helpful for removing any trapped food from your teeth that normal toothbrushes can’t and hence it protects your teeth from cavities.

  1.       Avoid Sugary Food

Almost everybody loves sugary food like desserts, sweets, candies, canned fruits, and carbonated drinks. I love eating sweets too but sugar is poison for your teeth health. Sugar may cause cavities which results in tooth decay problems. A little bit of sweet food is good for keeping your blood sugar balanced. However, avoid consuming too much sugar specially carbonated drinks at all costs. The sugar in such drinks not only causes tooth decay but also results in diabetes and obesity.

  1.       Do Oil Pulling

One of the healthiest techniques for getting better teeth and removing bacteria from your mouth is oil pulling. Coconut oil is commonly used for this purpose. Swishing 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil for 20 to 30 minutes can remove all kinds of bacteria and improve oral health. Oil pulling is beneficial for getting white teeth and making gums and teeth strong.

  1.       Eat Healthy

Above, I advise about avoiding sugary food. But what to eat then? Well, let’s get into the details of healthy food that will improve your health because you are what you eat. Dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese all are important sources of calcium and help in removing plaque. Similarly, leafy green vegetables and carrots are also essential for your oral health. They contain folic acid, vitamin B, and vitamin A which are important for teeth and gums. Watery fruits like Apple is also best as it helps in producing saliva and washes away any impurity from your mouth.

Summing Up

Rome was not built in a day. Likewise, don’t expect quick improvement or change in just one day. The healing process takes time. Don’t quit and stick to these 5 things on a daily basis for getting healthier teeth. In case you are having any tooth pain then contact your dentist immediately before using these practices.
